The «Wild
Underwater World» Festival has been held since 2015 and has already
become a traditional and anticipated event. Every year the festival starts in
Moscow, at the State Darwin Museum, and then successfully travels around the
country. Now the festival is widely known and anticipated in Omsk, Kaliningrad,
Uglich, Saransk, Naberezhnye Chelny, Kislovodsk, Obninsk, and Minsk. The
geography of the festival continues to expand.
The goal of the
festival is to introduce the audience to the beauty
of the underwater world and its wonderful inhabitants. About fifty underwater
photographers from Russia, Kazakhstan, Ukraine, Belarus, Sweden, Germany, the
Philippines and Thailand provided more than 100 new underwater photos taken in
different seas, oceans, lakes, and rivers across the planet. Winners and
laureates of prestigious Russian and international competitions have
participated in the festival together with aspiring underwater photographers.
For photographers, it is a wonderful opportunity to share their work with a
wide audience as well as to educate and inspire the younger generation.
The exhibition
features amazing, mysterious and, sometimes, very extravagant
inhabitants of the sea. You will get to see the smallest organisms like sea
angels and tiny shrimps in great detail and fearlessly approach impressive
predators like a white shark, a Nile crocodile, or a giant jellyfish with
stinging tentacles.
In 2021 the festival includes a thematic exhibition "Russian Waters". Russia
is washed by twelve seas of the World Ocean. There are small and large rivers
and more than two million lakes on its vast territory. Let's take a closer look
at the inhabitants of the Russian seas, lakes, and rivers.
The main partners
of the Festival are the State Darwin Museum and the Russian Union of
Wildlife Photographers.
We invite the visitors
to dive in and take a look at the amazing underwater world through the eyes of
our photographers!
