The exhibition is dedicated to Russian chairmanship at the Arctic Council. The
chairmanship was passed from Iceland and Russia will lead the chairmanship in
2021-2023. The exhibition includes around 40 photographs taken by famous polar
travelers and members of the Russian Geographical Society Leonid Kruglov,
Sergey Gorshkov and Mikhail Flint.
The Arctic Council is the leading
intergovernmental forum promoting cooperation in the Arctic. The Arctic Council
consists of the eight Arctic States: Russia, Denmark, Iceland, Canada, Norway,
the USA, Finland and Sweden. One of the priorities of the Arctic Council is the
conservation and restoration of the unique biodiversity of the Arctic region.
The visitors will see the amazing remote landscapes and rare animals of the
Russian Arctic. New Siberian Islands, Franz Josef Land, Novaya Zemlya, Wrangel
Island and Ushakov Island were beautifully portrayed by the authors of the
exhibition. The authors of the exhibition, director Leonid Kruglov,
photographer Sergey Gorshkov and ocean scientist Mikhail Flint captured the
photos in their Arctic expeditions. The photos are supplemented with the
author's texts.
Sergey Vladimirovich
Gorshkov is one of the most
recognized Russian photographers. He is known for outstanding photographs of
the wildlife of Kamchatka, Africa and the Far North. Sergey has received
numerous awards, including the title of the Wildlife Photographer of the Year.

Gorshkov is the author of 8 photo-albums: “Bear”, “Kamchatka – the Vanishing
world”, “Kamchatka”, “СatWalk”, "Wrangel Island", “Animal”, "Plateau Putorana"
, "Taimyr Peninsula", "69 parallel", "Franz Joseph Land".
Leonid Leonidovich Kruglov is famous Russian documentary filmmaker,
traveler, photographer and member of the Russian Geographical Society. He has
worked for many magazines, including the magazine Vokrug sveta (Around the
World). Leonid took part in numerous expeditions to the most remote places of
the world. His film "The Great Northern Way" won the Best Documentary
award at the II International Arctic film festival "Arctic Open".
Mikhail Vladimirovich Flint is an oceanologist, Doctor of Biological
Sciences, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, scientific director
of the Ecology of the Seas and Oceans department
and head of the laboratory at the Shirshov Institute of Oceanology of
the Russian Academy of Sciences. Mikhail Vladimirovich participated in and
organized more than 45 sea and land expeditions. Flint has been an author of
the 13 personal photo exhibitions and prefers shooting on film using old
classic cameras. He believes that photographs taken on film better reflect
the true essence of the nature around us.
