On July 23
Darwin Museum is inviting you to travel to the Moscow region, to enjoy the
beautiful nature of Prioksko-Terrasny Nature Biosphere Reserve. More than 100
photos will take you to the renowned European bison reserve as well show the
unique flora of Oka river area. This one of a kind territory supports diverse
ecosystems like swamps with commonly northern sundews and cranberries, and
typical southern steppe vegetation. Located in Moscow region, only 12 km from
Serpukhov, the reserve occupies the terraces of the Oka River valley covered
with pine and mixed forests. The area of about 5 thousand hectares is inhabited
by 142 species of birds and 57 species of wild mammals.
June 27 is
announced by Darwin museum as the Prioksko-Terrasny Nature Biosphere Reserve
Day. Visitors will be able to see an amazing film “4 Seasons” at Darwin museum
cinema, as well as to participate in interactive activities, like quizzes,
workshops for children, etc.
This
exhibition is part of the festival “Meet the Nature Reserves!”, promoting
preservation of biodiversity and protection of rare flora and fauna species,
eco-tourism and volunteers help movement in nature reserves.
