The
international exhibition project “All Colors of Asia” presents exotic and
captivating beauty of ten Southeast Asian countries in artworks of Russian
artists and museum exhibits. The exhibition is dedicated to the 20th
anniversary of the dialogue between ASEAN and Russia.
This large
exhibition project will occupy two floors of the exhibition complex of the
State Darwin Museum and conclude multiyear trips of the Bureau of Creative
Expeditions around exotic countries of Southeast Asia. The works of art created
in Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei, the Philippines, Thailand, Cambodia,
Myanmar, Laos and Vietnam will be presented at one cultural platform for the
first time. Beautiful works of applied arts from the funds of the State Museum
of Oriental Art; items from the funds of the State Darwin Museum and original
objects from expeditions will reveal the greatness of colorful diversity of ASEAN
countries.
The “All
Colors of Asia” exhibition at the State Darwin Museum will conclude a
three-year creative expedition of Russian artists to ten Southeast Asian
countries. The project was initiated by the ASEAN Centre in MGIMO-University,
the MFA of Russia. The implementation of this ambitious and beautiful idea was
entrusted to the public organisation the Bureau of Creative Expeditions. This
project was supported by the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of ASEAN countries,
diplomatic missions accredited in the Russian Federation, representatives of
the Ministries of Cultures of ASEAN countries who provided invaluable support
and created all necessary conditions for productive work of Russian artists
during their expeditions. The result of these creative trips was a wonderful catalogue
prepared for the exhibition “All Colors of Asia” with an opening address of the
President of the Russian Federation V.V. Putin. The catalogue was presented at the Russia – ASEAN
summit in Sochi in May 2016. The halls of the State Darwin Museum will present
a great collection of artworks, many of which weren’t included in the
catalogue, as well as iconic items from the collections of the State Darwin
Museum, the State Museum of Oriental Art and some private collections.
The Culture Weeks will be an important part of
the international exhibition project. The State Darwin Museum will host many
interesting cultural events such as lectures, film screenings, concerts and
many others. These events will open the great world of geographical, national
and cultural peculiarities of the Southeast Asian region and demonstrate strong
historical bonds of friendship between our countries.
