The exhibition project “Black/White: paradoxical colours” tells about the particular meaning of white and black colours in nature and human culture, including fashion and optical laws. The star of the exhibition is the stuffed white lion which was gifted to the State Darwin Museum in 2017 to mark the 110th anniversary. White lions are extremely rare in wild nature. The Darwin museum keeps one of the largest collections of animals with unusual coloration; however there has never been such a unique item as a white lion.

The exhibition pays a special attention to black, white and black-white fauna. It displays the best part of the unique collection of animals with abnormal coloration and supplemented by fascinating facts about black and white wild animals of our planet.

Since ancient times, black and white colours have played an important role in the human culture and fashion. The exhibition is decorated by beautiful attires presented by the A.A. Bakhrushin State Central Theatre Museum and a bridal salon “To be Bride”. Another exhibition project named “Two colours. The dialectic of monochrome”, curated by an artist Sergey Yaralov, includes about 100 black, white and black-white art works created over the last 25 years.
