Photo exhibition as part of the festival "Meet the Nature Reserves!"

26 March 2019 — 16 June 2019

Расположение: transition

The festival “Meet the Nature Reserves!” has united five of the Russian nature reserves: Kronotsky, Katun, Astrakhan, Prioksko-Terrasny, Orenburg. Each of them will present an author's photo project dedicated to the protection of unique species of animals and plants - our country’s heritage – at the Darwin museum between March 26 and October 20, 2019.

The employees of the nature reserves have prepared special programs to acquaint visitors with travel routes, nature reserves development plans, discoveries, current problems and capacities. The festival program includes workshops, discussions, film shows both for children and adults. An international photo exhibition "The Russian Nature Reserves" will be opening the festival.

An exhibition “The Russian Nature Reserve Territory” was created in 2017 on the occasion of 100th anniversary of the unique nature reserve system in Russia. It displayed professional photos of the protected territories of our country along with the wildlife in its full diversity: volcanoes and geysers, ecosystems of the purest rivers, lakes and ancient forests, as well as the Pacific Ocean aquatic area living resources.

During 2017–2018 the exhibition was hosted in Europe and Asia, inspiring its visitors to travel around Russia. The authors of the project are confident that the more people get acquainted with the natural treasures of Russia, the more there will be like-minded people to help implement international environmental projects and solve common environmental problems. A desire is enough to come and see the beauty of Russia with your own eyes!

The exhibition program:

  • Discussions “Ecotourism in Russia - Pros and Cons”, “Animal's Internet - How It Works”;
  • workshops led by Moscow representatives of the Kronotsky Nature Reserve;
  • counseling on eco-routes.

About the festival:

The festival “Meet the Nature Reserves!” has taken place at the Darwin Museum as part of the Year of Ecology 2017 for the first time. Thousands of visitors saw documentary films and photographs, took part in educational programs and games, workshops and lectures by the employees of Kronotsky, Komandorsky, Sikhote-Alin, Baikal nature reserves and the Curonian Spit National Park.

The festival was organized to promote ecotourism and volunteer movement in nature reserves.
